Martian Rescue Failure

The crew of the Martian had to abandon the search for Mark simply because it was too dangerous. Mark understood why they abandoned the search to save him. Many times, Mark had told his fellow crew mates it was not worth the risk and sacrifice they were trying to take. Of course, they did not listen to mark and tried to come save him in this rescue mission. I personally would not have even tried to save Mark because why risk several lives just for one life. One human being is not worth ten. I completely agree with them on abandoning the man. Even if Mark was their best friend it was not worth that great sacrifice that they almost did. I understand the logic behind it though; Mark was one of their brothers that been with them for a while. Even saying that it is just too big of a risk to try and save him. Which Mark understands that. The rescue mission got way too critical and they retreated back to the safe zone. They did everything that they could for Mark in that rescue mission. Which going into the rescue mission they knew that they might not be able to save him and end up having to leave him on mars. So, there was not really an alternate choice they tried to save Mark. The mission got way too critical for the rescue team so, they gave up. They felt horrible for having to leave their friend on mars, but there was nothing they could do for their lost comrade. I would have done the same thing for Mark. I would have worked night and day to try and find a way to save him. It would kill me inside to come up short just like they had. I would eventually come to terms with my decision to save all my other comrades and not send them on this suicide mission and make them come home. For the simple fact that one life is not more valuable than another’s.
